Twitter May Announce Bitcoin Tipping Feature

Bitcoin Tipping Feature
Share on:

Twitter is reportedly working to make the platform more crypto-friendly. A bitcoin tipping feature is expected to be announced in the next Twitter app update.

The content creator will be able to receive Tip in Bitcoin (BTC).  The lines of code in the latest Twitter IOS beta will make bitcoin a part of the Tip jar, according to MacRumors. Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO, had hinted towards the Bitcoin Tipping project being in Pipeline in the past.

Tip Jar feature was launched by Twitter in May. It allowed users to give rewards or tips to their favorite content creators on the Social Media app.

If and when the Bitcoin becomes viable for tipping, it will be added to the accepted payment option on the Tip Jar alongside PayPal and Venmo.

MacRumors also mentioned that Twitter may educate the users on Bitcoin Lightning Network and Custodial and Non-Custodial Bitcoin wallets through tutorials.

Examples of Custodial wallets will include Strike, Blue wallet, and Wallet of Satoshi. Whereas the non-custodial wallets include Muun, Phoenix, Breez, and Zap. Users are also informed that a strike will be needed.

We use Strike to generate Bitcoin Lightning invoices so you’ll need to connect your account to accept Bitcoin tips.

 Bitcoin Adoption:

Twitter has not yet released any official date for the launch of the Bitcoin Tipping Feature. However, considering the fast adoption of digital currencies and Jack Dorsey’s inclination towards bitcoin the feature may not be far away.
